Fitting the FAB air box to our RV7a q/b with a new, normally aspirated
O360 supplied by Vans. We seem to have an interference issue between
the fibreglass bottom of the air box coming into contact with the nose
leg, in fact it is hard up against it. The top plate of the air box is
positioned correctly, if we moved it forward then the filter would
interfere with the drain plug assembly on the carb. The only way that
we can get round this is to cut a slanting slot out of the fibreglass
so that it will fit around the nose leg and then to re-fibreglass the
slot so as to make a concave indentation in the air box bottom. Has
anyone else had this problem?

I think I read in the plans somewhere that you may have to cut the FAB
to clear the nose gear. I know that I have seen it done somewhere. I
have no experience in this area because the extra wheel is on the other
end of my plane. :-)

Roy
I had the same problem. I cut and reglassed to allow for the gearleg.
After I was done I read that you can heat the fiberglass with a heat gun and
just make an impression with a pipe. Might be worth looking into. Randy
