Dan,
I'm not joking.
Maybe I benefited from constantly going to your site for advice.
I know you spent a bundle of time with the priming & anodizing... I
only rattle can primed the rib to skin joins.
Could I have saved hours by taking advantage of your site? I know I
did. I was a frequent flyer to your site. I do know that the wiring
has taken me a lot longer than I would have imagined. I believe the
EXP2bus saved me another chunk of time.
I truly understand the 90% done, 90% to go. I was getting excited
when the finish kit arrived. I thought I was close.
The 150-200 hours saving is a guess on my part. That would be for the
debur & dimple. That's a tedious job with a hand squeezer. I took
your advice early on when you said it was your "favorite tool". It
was mine too after breezing though all those ribs.
I'm at 1010 right now. I just finished connecting & testing all my
nav, strobes, stick controled trim & flaps.
I'm using Vondane's led light package
I'm not trying to brag about anything here. I just wanted some input
from others on the time it will take for me to complete the fwf,
engine & baffling.
Do you think I have another 500 hours here to get to that first
flight?
Here's my builders log.
Sorry, I don't have pictures.

I'm at 650 hours with tail, wings, and on my third fuse bulkhead.
I use (and prefer) the little hand deburrer and the Cleaveland Main
Squeeze. I don't think they've cost me much time. I also just use a
rattle can primer on the non-alcad parts so I've saved time there
also.
The two things that have really cost me time are:
1) Not buying a band saw early on. Instead I've used a hacksaw,
dremel tool and file and I have spent way too much time fashioning
pieces out of thick aluminum angle!
2) Edge-smoothing ribs and other components. I use a scote-brite
wheel on a bench grinder but most of the time I have had to use a
little edge-scraper and emery cloth. Very time consuming. I know
others have used a 1" or 2" scotch-brite wheel on a hand-grinder but
I foolishly didn't go that route.

Hey Bill,
You're moving right along as well.
I really believe that the build hours go down as the kit matures. We
benefit from the ones that preceded us.
That's what makes these forums invaluable.
Best of luck to you.
