I'm working on the rear fuse (RV7A) and I need to consider the
mounting of the pitch servo, strobe pack and locator beacon. Obviously
the pitch servo has to go behind the F706 bulkhead (behind the baggage
area). What are builders doing with the other gadgets...are they
mounting them on a common rack with the servo or putting them further
forward in the baggage area to reduce aft CG. Any thoughts...pix would
be appreciated.

Bob
If you are using a wood prop or fixed pitched prop you need to keep
an much weight forward as possible.
strobe Power supply is rather heavy as is the ELT.
But mine is in the locations you suggested and I wish they were
somewhere else.

I cut a hole in the baggage floor and mounted both the strobe pack and
the ELT in there, allowing the ELT antenna to be mounted on the aft
side of the tip-up rollbar. I used .063 sheet to cover the hole, rib
to rib and fastened with #8 screws and nutplates. The whole thing
comes out and flips over for any kind of service; the wires run
through the tunnel to the front as needed. I mounted the pack and ELT
to the cover, not the floor and not a bracket. This is better CG than
aft of 706 bulkhead.

Hello Bob,
I made a combination for the servo and the strobe pack. You can find some

Garrett, I don't think you'll regret doing it that way.
I'm like having my strobe power supply out of the cabin. I know some people
have mounted theirs behind the seat backs and stuff, but that's valuable
space for crap when you travel, tool bags, etc. With wires sticking out the
side of the power supply, I wouldn't want something accidentally moving
around and knocking a wire loose. As I said, I'm glad my setup is behind
the baggage bulkhead.
I understand people have different CG constraints, so your mileage may
vary...but I would think there are other ways to accomplish the same thing
without exposing your power supply and its wiring to the cabin "elements."

I mounted my strobes in a rack with my two batteries. I am using the
Eggenfellner Subaru engine and I need electrical power to my engine at all
times. I have pictures if you are interested in this config.
