What are y'all doing for the brake pedals as far as coating? I've
looking into anodizing but so far it's pricey. I have yet to look
into powder coating or painting.

What have you done and how is it holding up?

Check these folks out. They seem to have all kinds of stuff for plating,
anodizing, powder coating, polishing, etc. I am thinking about them for
materials to polish my stainless firewall.

I just did this. I used some "wing walk" anti slip stuff from Vans. Looks
real nice, grippy and not thick or heavy. Hopefully is will stay attached
long term.

I'm terrible with paint, but even I managed to luck out. I used Dimension
3.5 urethane enamel from Sherwin Williams. It's the same paint I used on
all of my cabin interior painting. That stuff is friggin' bulletproof.
It's showing no wear, no chipping or scratching after almost 700 hours of
abuse!

We had them chrome plated at a local plating company, see:
http://websites.expercraft.com/PHVII/index.php?q=log_entry&log_id=988
You'll have to polish the brake assemblies real good, because you can see
all irregularities through it.
I don't know how it will last, we plan on stating to abuse them within a
year ;-)

Kind regards,

I went to the local hardware store and bought a rattle can of that
black textured stuff that they line the insides of 1/2 ton truck
boxes with. You could also use the spary cans of undercoating as
well. Gives a nice grip and should withstand some abuse.

I had some left over large sheets of black self adhesive 3M wing
walk "tape" left over from a float project I helped with. I call the
stuff "grip tape" and you can get it by the foot from some hardware
stores. I traced out the pedals and the lightening holes onto the
backing of the "tape" and cut it out. I painted the pedals black
before applying the "tape". Looks really good and it should last a
long time.

BTW this stuff was tough to cut and it did a job on my girlfriends
scissors. "no honey I have no idea what happened to those" LOL

How well does that grip tape work on rudder pedals? Isn't it desirable
to have your feet slide on the pedals?

I'm not flying yet, but actually the grip tape is on the brake
pedals. The rudder pedals are technically the metal tube which is
powder coated.
