First of all let me say how awsome that Vans is,ihave never delt with
acompany this great in my life.But these delivery dates are getting
hard to work with. untill now i have had to order one kit at a time
because of money.I have since gotten financing.heres the
problem.Irecieved my wing kit 3 weeks ago and have only control
surfaces left,but Iorderd fus kit last week and founjd out that they
are now 12 weeks out!I dont know if this is posible or probable but
if i could find a fus,kitthat someone dosn'tneed for a few weeks or
possibly a delivery due from vans(vans willing). I could possible get
in the airlate summer(Would be nice since i live in MT) I have a
neumatic rivet sqeezer that I would work out a deal with or whatever
else I could do! thanks for listening' and let me say agian vans, the
kit everone I have delt with has been great I just didn't know when
istarted this the first of the year it would go this good.!

Well it's precisely all these builders who just have to have it all
right now that create the backlog!
If you cannot locate someone willing to give up thier fuselage (and I'd
be amazed if you did), you might take a closer look at exactly how much
work remains on the wings prior to calling them complete. Have you
done your wiring? Wingtips? Antennas? Pitot tube/heater? Control
rods? Tank testing? Paint? Have you had an EAA Tech Rep have a look?
And don't underestimate how much work goes into the control surfaces.
They are right up there with the toughest parts of the kit. You might
be surprised to see how quick three months goes by. It has been my
experience that there is *always* some amount of work left to do. You
could also jump ahead and start planning your instrument panel and
wiring up your radios. This will keep you going (and financially
stressed) for many more weeks.
