Quick question on fixing a mistake. While dimpling the elevator skin
the skin jumped off the dimple die as the hammer came down and now I
have a hole where is doesn't belong. Is there a way to fill the hole
when painting the plane or is it time to call Vans and buy a new
skin. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Put a rivet in it.

I thought about that but there is less than 1/4 inch
between holes.

Hmm--that increases the challenge. Sounds like you have 2 choices, wait till
you do your tanks and fill the dimple with proseal or get a new skin.

Did the same thing.... I put the rivet in one hole and plan to fill
the other dimpled hole with bondo when the plan gets painted. As long
as you have a rivet in hole that includes the spar, the structural
integrity is there. No big deal.. if we bought a new skin every time
we goofed like this we'd end up buying two kits....
Stop watching TV while your working...

Thanks for the information. I was told that several
builders ended up with enough parts for two planes
when they were done. I just didn't want to be one of
them.
I wish I could use the tv wathching excuse... Just
messed up... Oh well its an educational process.
