I've read the last couple of day's postings with interest. I have an Avery
pneumatic squeezer, which I have found very useful for dimpling and the 1/8
rivets I have so far done in the HS spar. But I'm puzzled by what I've
read about the different pressures settings for the different sized
rivets. Why, if it does all the work in the last 1/.16 inch or
whatever? Surely the different pressures simply mean that it pushes
through that last 1/16 inch faster or slower?

Malcom,
I'm puzzled as to why anyone would use anything but the highest pressure available (unless you have a two stage compressor!). I run mine at 90-95 PSI all the time, no need to ever run anything less.
I hope people aren't using the pressure to try and regulate the amount of set on the rivet, that's not the way they're intended to be used. If you buy the unit with out the adjustable set holder, you need to shim the dies and sets with washers to get the correct rivet set. I would very highly recommend the adjustable set holder. With it, you simply spin the set holder to adjust the gap between the dies/sets. Once you have the gap set for the ideal rivet set, every rivet will turn out exactly the same - never over or under driven.
While your at it get the quick change yoke pins from Avery and a couple additional yokes. I have the standard 1 1/2" yoke, a Longeron Yoke, a 4" yoke and a 1" no hole yoke. If you only get one yoke, get the longeron yoke, it will work in 95% of the places that you would use a standard yoke. The no hole is probably the least useful, but it can get into some tight places.
Time to go build some . . .

The instructions that came with mine said 95-100 psi. It also said in big bold letters Do Not Lubricate!
I squirt a few drops of Marvel Mystery Oil on all of my air tools so the warning to not oil the squeezer puzzles me.

The Avery pneumatic squeezers are internally coated with Lubriplate.

Todd,
I agree with every word you say. I wouldn't be without the
adjustable set holder, either. As you say, it perfectly replicates
the rivet each time. My only regret is not getting the longeron yoke
instead of the 1 1/2" yoke when I bought the squeezer.
