Hi,
The O-235 came in 3 basic versions, all carbureted. The 'C' series is
the lowest compression, therefore the lowest hp, 108, and highest fuel
consumption. There is also almost no aftermarket parts for this engine, so
parts must be bought from Lycoming, read, $$$$$. The 'L' series had
different cylinders and higher compression and is rated at 118 hp and is
the most popular engine, parts are available from aftermarket sources so
they are not so expensive. There was also a high compression 'F' series,
rated at 127hp, but there were lots of issues with that engine and Lycoming
pulled it from the market.
