You mention on the 'RV of the Week' quote that it took you two
years. Do you mind if I ask about how much time each week it took
you? I'm just curious if I continue to work at the pace I'm working,
how long it might take me.

Brian,
I worked about 8 hours a day, 6 days a week. I was working by myself most of the time. A lot of the work would have gone faster if I had some one to help hold things. I don't think that any two builders will work at the same rate. Some of the things I was able to do much faster becouse I had a lot of experience, but there is many areas where some one with more experience could have done it faster. I know this does not realy answer your question, but their is to many differences to give a good answer
Sam

Sam,
I was wondering if you went quick build or slow build. 2 years for a slow build would be of great inspiration to me since I have spent almost a year on the tail group. I totaled my hours so far and I am up to 175. That's about 21, 8 hour days and I still need to finish the left elevator. In my defense for taking so long, I did a major construction project on the front yard of my house that took most of the year to complete. Now with the honey do's out of the way I can focus on building. I am at the place of deciding if I want to spend the money for the QB or take the time to do the SB.
P.S. Great Looking Plane !!!

Thanks, Sam. Actually that does answer my question a great deal. I
know no two builders are alike, but it's the best I can do to try to
plan out how long this will really take. The only problem is that:
You = 8 hours/day X 6 days a week = 2 years, which means that I =
lucky to have it done before 2010. Oh well. 2010 will be a good
year.
Cheers.

Now don't get too discouraged...
I have been building for 15 months and am just finishing up wiring & FWF. I figure I have about 3 more months to go... That's a slow build kit and I work on it an average of 25 hours a week.
That's 1 day on the weekend and 4 nights a week for 3 hours. So like everyone will tell you the times and hours vary depending on the person and your drive.

I have found that by following the advice of a few wise ones with
experience, the building goes faster than you think.
I endeavor to spend one to two hours each day building. BUILD EVERY
DAY! Follow this with 8 to 10 hours on the weekend.
I started my Empennage kit on July 20.
189 hours and 3 months later, I am just finishing the fiberglass tips
and should be totally completed by this week-end.
Also went the QB way to speed up construction. Expect to pick it up
at the end of this month.
