One item I'd like to add for those lurking and
considering, but not in USA or able to go to one of
the workshops. VAN's has available (for $30) the "kit"
used in the work shops.
So.... if you can find a willing builder you could
order the student kit, and have your new friend mentor
you through the tool orientation and part building
process. It takes about 8 hours to go through and you
will do nearly everything you need to do (they say) in
building the actual kit from VANS.
I took the RV assembly course in Corona CA (led by:
Tom Emery)earlier this year, and visited VANs the next
week, ordered the Emp for RV-7A and 2 student kits, 1
for me to do again and one for my son. Good practice
and a fun project to do together.

I probably should be asking the factory but I can't see the student
kit on the online store parts list. Is it perchance known by another name?
