I'm waiting for delivery of an Navaid which I intend driving from a Garmin
196. I would like to lay in the wiring and am wondering if anyone could help
with information on he connections required.

1) Assume there are 3 wires from the unit to the servo. Is this correct
and do they need to be screened.

2) Do you need one or two connection from the GPS. It would seem that all
that is required is the "Data Out" and assume "Data In" is not required?

3) Other than Power and Ground are any other connections required.

Thanks in advance

Neil.
There is only two wires used to drive the Nav Aid. They are the Dat out and
ground. When you get your Nav Aid It is shown in the Diagram.

Neil - I ordered and have received a Navaid sometime back. I have it
installed in the wing and it talks to the control unit OK. Havnt yet bought
a GPS.

You probably know all this, but just in case, there are two Navaid versions,
one accepts the standard digital info from most GPS and converts it to
analogue, the other accepts the analogue only. The second version is
cheaper. This is covered here:

http://www.navaid-devices.com/coupler2.htm

The difference is a bit of hardware made by this company

http://www.porcine.com/gps/sc/sc_frameset.html

It is integrated into the more expensive Navaid version. With hindsight I
wish I had bought the more expensive (by$150) version since I think it would
work directly with a Skyforce which is what I will probably buy as a GPS.
There are probably some GPS it will work with directly but I do not know
which they are. Wish I did. It seems some GPS output VOR style analogue
signals.

and do they need to be screened. _No Its just a simple analogue signal on
two wires and power on the third.

2) Do you need one or two connection from the GPS. It would seem that all

I have not yet decided on the GPS. No experience

3) Other than Power and Ground are any other connections required. - Assume
this relates to your point 2.

Thanks in advance
