I'm getting close to a point where I want to paint the inside of the
cockpit. I have some very specific colors in mind. They're so
specific that I don't think I will be able to find them ready made in
spray can form. I was wondering if anyone knows of a place that can
custom manufacture paint colors and put them in a spray can? I know I
could use a spray gun and compressor. But I wanted to use something
small and self contained so I can more easily get into tight areas.
Plus I'm used to the spray characteristics of a spray can. Don't want
to worry about drips!
Any help would be much appreciated.

Eric,
You might try Cardinal Paint or your local Sherwin Williams auto
paint store. Other builders have told me they will both mix up
small batches of paint and put it in spray cans. I don't know if you
have to choose one of their standard colors or if they also mix
custom colors. Please let us know what you learn.

Funny this would come up just now. Two days ago, I was down at the
local Sherwin-Williams automotive paint store and noticed a sign on
the wall that said they will mix custom colors into spray cans. I
took not e of the sign because I'm thinking exactly the same thing you
are.
Hope this helps.

I responded to Terrences reply yesterday thinking it was posting to the
group but apparently only went to him. Here's my response:
Hi Terrence,
Thank you for that suggestion. Actually I bought a couple of those
today! I called a local paint supplier and he mentioned the Preval
system. They're pretty slick. I'm anxious to try them out and will
report the success or failure for interior painting.

Thanks Sam,
I'll look into that too!

Gents,
Harbor Freight sells a reusable spray can http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=1102. I have one but haven't used it yet. You simply add your own paint, charge it with shop air and spray. It is 2/3 the size of a standard spray can so it might be better at getting into those tight places.
