I have a small stack of aluminum sheet stock that came with my
empennage kit. The sheets are about 4" X 12 " and assorted
thicknesses. So far I haven't found a use for this material. It says
trim material on the sticker. Is this extra material you can use to
practice riveting and dimpling ot will it be used later. I did make a
couple of shims for the Horizontal Stabilizer with some of it.
Thanks

Jim,
Hold on to the sheeting, I found uses for it such as creating templates for
nutplate jigs, dimple test plates to ensure countersinks are appropriate,
etc. Plus you can practice diimpling, riveting and such. Have fun with it!

Bill

Hi Jim,
Speaking from a 7A perspective, so far I've used the stock to make a shim on
the VS for the rudder stop and also for the bottom fiberglass rudder tip where
it attaches to the rudder.

Thanks guys,
I may use some to practice on. I am ready to dimple and deburr
the Horizontal stabilizers. Then I can prime them. I'm getting close
to riveting the HS and am a little paranoid about it. I've bever set
one rivet in my life. My AP friend is going to give me some pointers
and help me get started which will help.

Jim,
Although it can appear to be intimidating, there are many builders who have
never before set a rivet. The best advice I can give you is to dry fit
everything to resolve any issues before you set the first one. Also be sure
that before you actually set the rivets, the components are fitted nice and
tight. Back rivet when you can to get the best appearance. Start on the
underside surfaces (the plans generally have you do this anyway) so that if
you make a cosmetic error, it will be where few will see it. ; )
Regards,
Bill

Jim . You got it right first time. The trim bundle is for you to use as you
please. It comes in useful for all sorts of practice pieces. The trim bundle
with the wing kit is even more useful, it contains long narrow strips which
make excellent straight edges.
