Any suggestions for installing the fuel drain valve in the tank. I
can get the thing screwed in about a third of the way, but it binds
after that. I am just test fitting it, so I expect I'll install it
permanently with sealant. Thanks!

That is basically how NPT threads work - they are tapered and seal by
making a tight fit (with some sort of sealant on the threads). The
standard of engagement is typically no more than five threads and could
be less. I bought a 1/8MNPT tap and increased the depth of the thread
in the aluminum. Do it carefully so it doesn't go too deep and make
sure the inside of the drain does not extend past the inside of the
aluminum or you will not be "sumping" the tank when you press the fuel
valve.

It's a pipe thread, so just screw it in until it is tight. It is NOT
neccesary to muscle it in all the way...a pipe thread is tapered.
I'll bet it does get really tight after about a third of the way! you
also don't want the bit inside the tank projecting above the skin
level. It won't act as a sump or drain if it's above the fuel level.
A bit of fuellube and tighten it up snug, plus just a
little...that's all you need.

Thats all the further I got mine to go in. Use a little teflon
(liquid) sealant on the threads or they'll leak.
Don't wrench them in too tight because you WILL be removing them
later to clean or replace the o-rings when a little dirt gets caught
in them and they start to drip.
