Home -> RV-9 and RV-9A topic: Dynon group-buy update

Hi all,

After a lot of back and forth with Dynon, I have to let those with
hopes for a Dynon group-buy know that Dynon does not want to do it. Does
not fit into their plans at this time. Bummer. So back to your
original plans.

Oh, and btw, for those of you like me that are still interested in a
Dynon unit, they say the heated pitot should be released by next Friday.

I've tried to get a group-buy going with Garmin, they were not
interested. Also, I've contacted Honeywell/Bendix/King, they are
mulling it over, but it's been a few days, so it seems unlikely. Any
other products this group would be interested in doing a group-buy on?

Thanks for trying Carsten.

I had gotten email (and I believe it was posted here too) from
safeair1 with what I thought was a pretty good deal on the Dynon with
free shipping and a good price. It was $2409 to my door (well it
hasn't arrived yet, I ordered last week) with backup battery, remote
compass, pre-order of the heated pitot and OAT (they'll ship for free
when they get them later this month they said). They are initially
selling the heated pitot for $199 which I read somewhere will go up
$100 at some point after release. That was enough to make me jump
and be able to get that installed and finish the wings out without
having to ponder leaving skins off. Plus I have a cool toy to play
with around the house.

There are better deals to be had on the Dynon. I've come across one
dealer who's offering the head unit at $1,844, and maybe he'll come
down further. At around $1,800 the dealer still makes a very healthy
profit (I know what the dealer cost is), and my guess is he'll have a
chance for a major volume of around 100 units if he sells it as a
one-time deal.
