I'm a little surprised by the amount of friction in the rudder
pedals and flaps. The weldments fit very tightly in the nylon(?)
bearing blocks. Is there anything that should be done to loosen
this up a bit?

Brian - part of the friction I had was associated with the rudder pedal bar
being slightly too long and pressing outward on the nylon. I minutely
reduced the length and polished it up. Also on the flap mechanism make sure
you have ALL the paint off - and polish it up. Mine is still a bit tight
though. I hope it will loosen with wear. One thing you must NOT do is try to
lubricate it. It will probably cause it to swell and the problem get worse.
When all is said and done, I agree it is tight. My thoughts were though if
the motor can drive against the air loads on the flaps this must be a small
percentage extra.
