What kind of connectors are people using to connect the five tiny
(maybe 24awg) wires for the electric trim servo? I was thinking
maybe a molex connector but the ones I've found for wires that small
are passive (friction) lock and I want something that I know won't
slide appart.
Thanks,
Paul

I used a five-section AMP® Flexi-block Modular Terminal Strip, mounted on the aft deck. By removing the empenage fairing, I can reach in, remove the ring terminals crimped to the extended 24-gauge wires, and pull the entire servo drive out for service through the 3/8" grommet hole in the Elevator Spar.
The five-conductor cable from the instrument panel, sold by the servo supplyer, can also be removed from the same terminal strip and pulled back through the HS Spar so the HS can also be removed for servicing.

I have used the Switchcraft EN3 series for this and several other tasks.
They are circular multipin plug/socket combinations that have a positive
turn and lock feature. they are small, light and available in fixed and free
versions. They also allow for cable clamping at the rear although some heat
shrink is needed on the servo wires to bring them up to a reasonable dia.
Soldering is required to connect to the pins. They are available from RS -
Cat 1 page 504.

Paul,
I have a pic of the way I handled this on my page. Note that the wire
running through the spar is a "dummy" I made up for the picture. Didn't
have what I wanted and can run it after everything is closed. Go to
www.missionmedia.org/RV-9A.html and click on "Emp Tips." It is the last one
on the page. All the black parts are anodized, BTW.

Thanks for all the useful info. I also found very good
documentation on Gary Newsted's builder site. Good documentation
and pictures.
Thanks,
