While I was riveting the Vertical stabilizer skin I pushed a flush
rivet back against the rivet gun and the rivet is sticking out at
least a 32nd of an inch. The shop head on the inside is very small. I
noticed it and started to drill it out but something distracted me
and went ahead and finished the riveting. After completing the whole
vertical stablilizer I noticed the rivet sticking up. I can't get to
the spot to buck a new rivet and don't know the best way to fix the
problem. Also, I left out a 470AD4 rivet in the rear spar. Same
problem. The easy fix for the spar would be to just put in a cherry-
max rivet in the spar. Any advice would be appreciated.

Jim,
There is an easy solution to your problem. Drill out the protruding rivet. Enlarge the hole (I like to use an awl, but your can drill it larger) to accept the MK319BS pop rivets from Van's. You might have a few in your kit. These have the save factory head size as the 3/32" rivets but the shank is slightly larger then the 3/32" rivets. When prepping for paint, fill the rivet shank hole with filler and you will never be able to tell the difference after paint.

Thanks,
I knew there had to be a good fix. I was pretty sure I wasn't the
first to make that mistake.
