Home -> RV-9 and RV-9A topic: Tachometer Pickup Interferrence(sp) with Vacuum Punp

Author: jvondolen@... Time: Tue Mar 30, 2004 7:50 pm PST Link

I just mounted my 0-320 from Aerosport after having installed a Rapco vacuum
pump. I went to install the tachometer pickup and found that it would hit the
pump. I could screw out the fitting some to provide clearance but it didn't
appear to be near enough (I didn't try). Did anyone run into this, and what was
your solution?

Also, while I've got the floor, what is a good way to make a firewall
penetration with a 1 inch vacuum hose?

Thanks,

John Von Dohlen

How about get rid of the vacuum pump?
Have you considered electric gyros and/or an EFIS?

You'll probably need some kind of punch if you still want to make
that hole in the firewall.

John,
Their is a different transducer for engines with a vacume pump. Van,s part
number is IE VTACHGEN 12. Since you have the one for engines without a
vacume pump, You can get the Drive extension Part number IE VTACH EXT 12.
