Hi all, this is a first post for me and I found all other posts
intersting. Let me first start by introducing myself. My name is Doug
Mueller and I live in Las Vegas, NV. I am currently building an RV-6
#24186. I have been at it off and on since 1995. Although it has been
slow to start I am in the wings now with a renewed spirit. Everything
is going relatively smooth. My question I have is "On the rear spar
of the wing is there an overhang like the mainspar for tooling of 3/4
inch?" If I read the plans right, I would say no, but reassurance
would be great. I have several builders in my area but I am not
familiar with them as I have been working in my garage until
recently. I would also like to meet anybody in the area currently
building. Any help is always appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi Doug,
No extra length for tooling on the rear spar. There is an extra
overhang on the root end of the rear spar that will become the attach
point of the rear spar to the fuselage.
Good luck,

Hello Doug:  The overhang you refer to is excess length Van's wisely included into the rear spar so that you have a means to support the  rear spar as it is being located relative to the rest of the wing while in its jig. It is this excess material that is clamped to a lower bracket of your wing jig.  This overhang will be trimmed off later.
