Home -> Vans Air Force topic: lycoming question

Hi everyone, my question is this-- I have a Lycoming O-320 E2D and I
am installing the oil pump, when I torque the three castle nuts to
150inlbs per the Lycoming overhaul manual, only one nut lines up with
the hole in the stud. the other two are slightly past the hole,
because of this I won't be able to insert the safety wire. So, that
leaves me two choices either tighten the nuts to the next castle or
loosen them. Any A&P's out there or anyone for that matter that would
know the correct way to remedy this problem?

Thanks

(end of quote)

- Try swapping the nuts or washers.

- If you have more nuts, try them as well.

- If there is a gasket, it will seat after a day or two and you can re-torque.
