I created a new poll that should give a little insight into what
we're building. It will allow you to select all those things we talk
about at the table, tailwheel vs nosewheel, slider vs tip up, VFR vs
IFR.
I figured with the 300+ people now in the group it might be a nice
way to size up what the popular choices are for the builders/flyers.
Best,
Doug

This poll may be a little skewed by these factors:
1. RV-3's only have tip-up canopies
2. RV-4's only have tip-up canopies
3. RV-3's only have tailwheels
4. RV-4's only have tailwheels
5. RV-8's only have sliding canopies
Otherwise, it's pretty interesting to see the results. And
interesting to notice that only ~2% of us are 30 or younger... 8-P
(having not created a poll before) Is there not a way to group items
in these polls, ie. so you could group the Propellor options, the
Engine options, etc. and get meaningful percentages within those
groups (like 80% metal prop, 20% wood prop, instead of 4% and 1% of
all votes)?

There are many 3's out there with sliding canopies. Two 3's on our field and
both are sliders.

I think only the RV-6,7 & 9's truly have "tip-ups" (or sliders). Most
all RV-4's have a "tip-over" as well as some RV-3's. BTW, most of the
RV-3's I'v seen are sliders too. Picky...yes but to be accurate, the
tip-up pivots forward and the tip-overs hinge to the right......phil
