L I G H T S P E E D S... A good experimental aviation CDI system that
has many benefits over a mag. Best of both worlds is to install one mag
and one Lightspeed. You have mechanical redundacy and CDI advantages
along with auto plugs if you want to go that route for cost savings.
Seems like this is the most popular option..one mag, one lightspeed and
the auto plug conversions. Boy, I really like spendings other peoples'
money......Seriously, investigate the Lightspeed option...Let the group
know of your findings.

Agreed on the electronic ignition. I went the the Electroair ignition and
love it. Installation is very simple. I climbed to 8,000 feet the other
day and decided to test my iginition. I shut off the advance function of
the ignition, and my fuel flow meter jumped up about 1.3 gallons. For the
extra $400 I spent on the ignition over a mag, it is safe to say that it
will pay for itself in no time.

Need advice--just put on 2 new slick mags on my rv4--eng is 0320 an i
have flown this plane over 1100hrs--anyway with new mags my run up is
only 2100--used to be 22+ an top rpm flying is now 26+ used to be
2700++---mags are timed 25degress before TDC--it has been subjested
that setting timing to 26degrees will get that 100rpm back--I would
like some advice on this ---thanks charlie

How did your old mags run at idle?  Advancing the timing should make a
difference at high RPM, but will make it run rougher at idle.
