Autopilot users/builders

Getting to that point in the wings where autopilot servo installation
is the thing to do. Saw TruTrak's new Digitrak autopilot; Very
impressive…..BUT.. the residual torque spec seems kind of high!!
Up to now, I was planning on a Navaid autopilot. Feedback from
several RV fliers was all positive and none reported that they could
feel the presence of the servo with the autopilot off.
Navaid does not publish a residual torque spec for their servo.
Nor have they answered my e-Mail request for same.
So is there someone out there with a Navaid servo, who could measure
the residual torque with the servo off?
If the difference between the two servos is not great than I will
favor the TruTrak. I would not want to install the TruTrak system if
it can be felt, and by implication, mess with Van's
legendary "control feel".

Thanks in advance,

Rolf

I am not flying yet, but I can tell no difference with the TRUTRAC servos
when conected or not. They have a very nice installation kit that is easy to
install. It is first class. Also you must compare the difference in what the
two units do. I think the digital is the way to go. RV-8 -ready for paint.
