Van's had indicated that my -7 wing kit would ship this week, but its
Saturday and I've received no confirmation. What is their normal
means of confirming shipment? I had asked for email confirmation...

-My wings were scheduled to ship on Aug 19. The actual date was Aug.
20. I received shipping documents in the mail about two days after
the shipment started on it's way. That was the only comunication I
received from Van's.
The paper work they sent me had tracking numbers for the carrier
which in my case wasn't much help in my case but that's another story.

I just got notice in the mail of my fuselage shipping the day after
the trucking company delivered it.

It has been my experience with the major kits that Van's notifies you
of the scheduled shipping week. Later, documents arrive that indicate
which common carrier and its delivery date are. Depending upon the
carrier, you can sometimes track your shipment on-line. Then through
communication with the carrier, you can elect to have the shipment
delivered to your location or customer pickup at the depot.
Interestingly, in my case, the shipping costs for the finishing kit
were far more expensive than the others because in that case its
contents were listed as "plastic" (the canopy bubble) rather
than "aluminum sheet" declared on the wing and fuselage kits.
