I know this has been covered before, but just for info
for new builders, I thought I would provide some
insight.
On my 6A, I had the electric elevator trim, connected
to a hat switch on the infinity stick grip. I loved
it. Easy control, had an indicator on the panel, etc.
I am currently flying someone's restrictions off of
their RV-6A. His has manual trim. Now that I have
flown it, I like the manual trim much better. More
precise control (just a twist of the knob instead of
holding a switch down). No electrical, no speed
govenor, and really nothing to fail or runaway.
On my RV-10, I plan on manual trim if at all possible
now that I have flown both. Just a perspective for
those of you contemplating between manual and electric
trim.

Paul,
I'm glad you posted about this. After talking with Van himself and
Ed McGowan at the sportair workshop I ordered my emp. With the manual
trim. When I got to the elevators I stopped building. I was
starting to think I wanted to change my mind and go ahead and order
the electric trim. After all it is pretty cool with the hat switch
and the indicator lights. But I just couldn't pull the trigger and
order it for some reason. So there sat my elevators waiting for me
to make up my mind. Your post confirmed my original decision for the
manual trim. Not that anything is wrong with the electric or
anything, it's just not for me. So thanks to you, I can start
building again!
