Hi Folks,
Today I flew N194DL for the first time. After some initial minor
problems with the backup fuel pump, I took it off from the 5000-foot
runway at Conroe, TX. It flew as advertised by Vans. Everything
worked perfectly until the very last of the flight when the tack
reading on my Grand Rapids EIS went to 0. The tack function in the
Quinti prop controller worked fine so no problem. Now I have
something to work on before the next flight.
The weather was perfect. Not a cloud in the sky. Temps about high
70's. The front came through Houston Friday and cleared all the crud
from the sky.
Flew about 30 minutes just circling the airport. Checked out the
elevator trim. Fly's hands off. The rudder was able to yaw the
airplane. Flew it at 70 knots to insure that I could fly at landing
speeds. No problems.
This trip it was will the plane keep going forward and climbing and
can it get back on the ground. Those tasks were completed
successfully.
Configuration:
Eggenfellner Subaru 2.5 liter engine.
1.8 x 1 gear reduction.
Quinti Prop with Warp Drive taper tip blades.
Survivors on the ground said that they were definitely able to tell
when I came over as the sound of the engine was different than the
Lycomings flying this morning.
More later as the hours go up.

Excellent! Here's wishing you the best!
I'm sure I'm not the only member who will be interested in performance, temps, etc Data on that engine & prop combo.

Congrats Larry, nice job. Keep us posted from time to time re the EggenSube...
I will be the first to admit that I have been a died in the wool "it will be a Lyc" guy for about 60 years... but this engine at least has my attention!
