Home -> Vans Air Force topic: Slightly off topic- airport database

Author: "John Baute" <jmbaute@...> Time: Thu Mar 18, 2004 10:54 am PST Link

Does anyone know where I can find an airport database that will give
me pure, raw data? I am looking for something that will give me
identifier, lat, lon, elevation, etc, but I'm looking for the whole
enchilada- for every U.S. airport, in a table (that I can put in my
own database and query). Not like the single airport info that you
get from sites like AirNav.

Oh, and I want it for free, too. :)

I figured the FAA.gov site might have this but I came up empty.

Thanks for any help.
John

You might contact Airnav and see where they got their initial data -
they've probably grown from the original data set.

Their's is a free site, so they might be willing to share their
original sources gratis.

Good luck!

The dafif stuff is at https://164.214.2.62/dafif/dafif_0403_ed7/

Download the dafift.zip and the airport info is under the ARPT directory.

If you want the index for all the dafif stuff, start here:

John:

Try these:

http://www.gcr1.com/5010WEB/default.htm

http://www.airnav.com/airport

Both site use the data gathered on FAA Form 5010 which is regularly sent by
the FAA to all airport managers (private as well as public) to collect
information about the airport.
