Bantering, yes.
BS ..... well maybe useful BS. I see a lot of misinformation and urban
legend in this (and some others) thread ...... but I also see info from
folks that don't mind stepping up to the plate to right the wrong and
educate. Their advice may fall on deaf ears ..... but it's a free
country and I like it that way. I also tire of the endless threads
..... and they're endless because they often get off the original topic
..... but I still read an awful lot of them because inside all the
rhetoric is likely to be a little jewel of info that I can add to my
collection. But the only way to separate that jewel from the chaff is
to read them all and try to find some logical way to look at the
statement and give it credence or a trip to the bit bucket. I suppose
if you know all there is about a subject then you may want to stick it
in the BS file ...... but to those that ask the question ..... and those
that wished they had the guts to ..... the "BS" is invaluable. A thread
may become tiresome ...... but someone is usually thankful for the
advice. My observation is that a lot of questions don't have one right
or wrong answer. Some answers are subjective and although they may be
from personal experience have ill-conceived advice. Also, personalities
play a large part in how long a thread lasts. Look at the endless
threads as "primer", gear type, type of paint .... wars. Significant
info in all. Whether you go with the info or strike out on your own
(someone has to be first to do a particular thing), I don't think of the
lists as a place to change anyone's mind ..... such as hitting the
delete key ..... but to allow the opportunity to educate.
Linn ...... sigh ..... Roberta may have hit the delete key before
reading all this excellent, opinionated piece. Another convert lost.
Darn. :-D
