Author: Danny Lawhon <dlawhon@...> Time: Sat Dec 18, 2004 9:14 am PST Link

I know the manual has very little section on the
fuselage
and the plans cover the whole project, but does anyone
know of a website or list of build order for a
quickbuild fuse.. I kinda worked here and there on the
qb wings and had to go back and undo things but I
wanted to avoid this on the fuse section.. anyone have
a order of attack on the qb fuselage stuff.. ? or
could recommend a an order..

Danny..

ps I know its quickbuild and I didn't do all the work
but please don't hold that against me..

Merry Christmas Everyone..

Danny,

The best thing you can do on the fuselage is to take the written instructions
and check each item. Start with #1 look at it, check it off then mover to #2
and so on. This way you will become familiar with the building process and
avoid mistakes when you get to an item that you will perform.

Danny,
I went through the same thing you're about to go through. I have to
tell you that I just started at the beginning of the instructions
and read, checked the plans, checked the fuse to see if an assembly
had been done, and if it had, check it off of the margins of the
instructions. It will seem slow at first, but as you read, look and
understand what has & hasn't been done, things will speed-up. It
*will* pay-off as you continue through the process. As a side note,
I came in the other day from a few hours of building and my wife
asked me how the plane-building was going. I told her that I was
finally at a point where I could actually *work* on something most
every day because I had a much better understanding of technique and
process. Seems like for every three hours I spent studying plans
and instructions I worked only about thirty minutes actually making
something. It's much better now.
Hang in there.

I'm just wrapping up my QB fuse work. You can do quite a bit, in just
about any order, with a couple of exceptions.

1. The wiring and finish kit will require a lot of work forward of
the panel. So, I suggest you not install the forward cover which
includes fabbing the baggage door, until the wiring and plumbing is done.

2. I suppose you could use pop rivets for the flap fairings. But, if
you're going to install the rivets as called for, the aft floor needs
to stay out to permit access to "below decks". If the aft floor is
going to stay out, everything the rivets or bolts through the aft
floor sections, (and then whatever connnects through that stuff) will
need to stay out as well. This means the aft cabin covers, the rear
throttle controls, the control column, the flap actuator, the aft
baggage compartment, and perhaps a couple of other things. Of course
you can fit all this stuff up, but you'll be pulling it all out when
you do your flap fairings. I had my stuff all buttoned down and
tightened up, only to have to pull it all out. Frustrating? A bit!!!
But I'm glad it's just about over, and I can start messing with the
front end.

A word of advice too. since all that stuff will likely be fitted and
removed a couple of times, don't be in a hurry to paint it. Wait
until it all goes in for the last time, to protect your finish coat.
