FYI for anyone wiring up an Icom A200. The instructions regarding
Pin B (the +14v the lighting supply line) are incorrect. They say:
"DIMMER SELECTION Connect pin B to the Instrument panel
lighting line. -- When the instument panel lighting switch is placed
to dimmer position, the transceiver backlighting is reduced to half
bightness."
I interpreted this as meaning that the light would be on all the time
at full brightness, and when pin B is swtiched to +14v, the lights
would dim to 1/2 brightnss. Nope.
I got this response to my query from Icom's tech support:
"The instructions are slightly wrong. Pin B is the lighting power
supply line and, if you desire the lights to be dimmed, you must
connect that wire through a dimmer. When 14 VDC is applied, the
lights are at 100% brightness."
Merry Christmas!
