Home -> Vans Air Force topic: RV6A cowl trimming

Author: "n259rd" <n259rd@...> Time: Sun Dec 26, 2004 10:49 pm PST Link

Hello
I undersand that the flanges on the green RV6A cowl are to be
removed excepting the flanges on the inside of the air duct. How
about the flanges under the spinner? They are connected to the
inside air duct but are causing a lot of interferance. Has any one
cut them off and still had a good fit?
Roger

I didn't do any trimming under there and the lower cowl fit fine.

The tabs on the inside (prop side) of the cooling inlets are to screw the cowls halfs together.

I think the stiffness of the lower cowl under the spinner would be compromised if you were to cut any of it off.

What's interfering with what? The lower cowl should be able to rise straight up into place.
