Just be tankful our RV's are made of aluminum and not steel. I'm in the farm
equipment business and we have seen steel prices increase 80 to 100% since
January 1, 2004.

If you have a problem with $150 and $200 increases maybe you should re-think
being in aviation.

Ken

Hi Ken,

Gonna have that RV at Oshkosh '05? Rich and I will be at The Roost again and at the registration shack. I'll probably park with the RVs as our friend Don will have his completed (hopefully) W8 Tailwind.

Best regards and Happy Holidays,
Roberta Hegy

Van's yearly price increase approximates the increase in the cost of
living (3-4%). However the kit prices will increase almost 9% for '05
to cover the escalating price of aluminum. Lock-in the price before
12/31.
As an aside, you wouldn't believe how the worldwide demand for other
strategic metals affects the rest of the aerospace industry.

Waiting for my -9A wings to arrive,
Steve

Ken: Thank you for your positive words of encouragement. The on topic
question is,is there anything besides the tires, tubes that will
not age well in the finish kit if it sits for a year or two
untill it is needed. The price has gone up $1500 from 2001 when
I started this 7a , shipping is cheaper to package the two kits
to here on the east coast,I have to strech a little with the
money to do it now but the real value is about $500 if I act now
and I am asking the group what they think.
Thanks

Bob,

There's a good bit of bare steel (legs, engine mount) in the finish kit that would need to be primed or oiled for protection. Other than that, I can't see any issues.

Bob

the finish kit box is large.

canopy and engine mount and cowl mainly.

I would doubt there would be a shipping savings on that box being
shipped with others.

Its not like it will go inside other boxes.

Most all of the components should be pretty time stable. Hanger rash
or in our case basement rash can take place and get things skinned up
just moving them around.

my 2 cents

I left my finishing kit on the back deck after inventorying it for over a
year without any damage. There was no rust of the gear legs and nothing needs to
be primed.
