I know this is not RV related but it is aviation related and who best
to ask for advise or answers but Vans Airforce. I have been trying
to figure out the name of a movie that came out in the 60s. I
remember it was about a bomber crew that crashed and the crew were
all ghosts but you did not know this at first. This became apparent
as the movie went along. The Flight of the Pheonix made me think of
this movie and it has been bugging me and my coworkers for the last
two days. I want to rent it if it is on DVD but need the name.
Please help!!

I vaguely remember a made-for-television movie that played on the
disappearance of the ill-fated B-24, "Lady Be Good" in the Libyian
desert during WW11. As I recall...and the recollection is dim so
don't hold my feet to the fire for precise detail.... Vince Edwards
portrayed the modern day Air Force investigator on the accident
scene accompanied by Richard Basehart, now a senior officer who
played the tortured sole surviving crew member of the ill-fated
flight which occurred so long ago. As the investigating team pours
over the wreckage and possible scenarios of the crew's fate are
sketched out...Basehart's former crewmembers now in the form of
ghosts, harrass him into revealing his less-than-heroic behavior
surrounding the disappearance. If this storyline rings a bell with
others, perhaps they can supply you with the title. Then again, you
may be thinking of some other movie.

You may be thinking of "sole survivor".

It was pretty good, IIRC.

Jeff, I remember that movie and would like to find it as well. After
some Googling, I found this info:
"Sole Survivor" - Vince Edwards, Richard Basehart, William Shatner, Lou
Antonio - 1970.
"It sounds like you're talking about "Sole Survivor", which was made in
the seventies. The ghosts are the crew of an American B-17, which
crashed in the Libyan desert during WW2. The wreckage is found
twenty-odd years later, and among the recovery party is a USAF general
(Richard Basehart) who was the young navigator who got them lost, then
bailed out on them. The ghosts recognise him, and spend the rest of the
movie trying to haunt a confession out of him."
"I think the film you're thinking of is "Sole Survivor". The plane was
an American bomber which crashed in the desert. The crew spend their
days playing baseball, not realising they're dead, until many years
later a recovery crew locates their bodies."
Maybe that will help you find a DVD. One source I found said it wasn't
available on vidoe but maybe you can dig it up.

I remember that movie! I think I do. This isn't the one about the B25 that crashed in the desert is it? I remember that one where I think the main character was a ghost. But I seem to remember another one where one guy survives and is rescued but when they try to find all the other guys he's been hanging with the whole movie, they aren't there. I only saw it once when I was a kid. Can't help with the name. Hopefully I'll jar someone's memory.
